Welcome to the PE and School Sport Page

Physical Development in the Early Years
In the Early Years, children develop their ability to move in different ways and negotiate space successfully.  They develop their co-ordination and control in large and small movements, learning to handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.
The National Curriculum for PE

The national curriculum for Physical Education  (PE) aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • engage in competitive sports and activities
  • lead healthy, active lives

Competitions

KS2 Multisports Competition

Well done to Sandy, Myla, Juan, Wiktor, Mia K, Lily, Mason and Kayden who represented Bromley Road in the KS1 Multisports Competition on Wednesday 3rd May.  Despite the cold and rain, they still had a great time. 

 

Congratulations to Mason for winning the Holwer Throw in his group and to Sandy for winning the Standing Long Jump in her group.

Year 3/4 Key Steps Gymnastics Competition

Success for our Gymnasts in the competition on Monday 27th March.  The squad had to perform a routine, body management skills and vault in front of a judging panel and large audience.

 

Team 1 (Ceylin, Joseph, Rhiannon and Kaleb) were awarded 9th place out of 13.

Team 2 (Katie, Sonia, Eddie and Ned) achieved 5th place.

 

Thank you to Rhiannon for stepping in at the last minute and to Olivia K for coming along and supporting.

 

Congratulations to all of the Gymnasts. We are all very proud!

 

Bromley Road vs Worsley Bridge Football Match

On Tuesday 14th March 2017, the Year 4/5 Football Team played a friendly match against Worsley Bridge's Year 5/6 Team.  The game was tough, with the final score being 6-0 to Worsley Bridge, however, the team fought hard until the end whistle.  Congratulations to the 'Men of the Match' Eryk and Chris, who played outstandingly well together in defence.

Bromley KS2 Sports Hall Athletics Competition

On Thursday 19th January 2017, 14 children represented Bromley Road in this event.  Although the team did not place as well as they'd hoped, we have recognised some for their 'Special Achievements'.

Luke for showing resilience when he fell during a relay race.

Sam for clearing every hurdle in the obstacle race, even though he was worried that he wouldn't!

Ore for coming 1st in her group in the 'Speed Bounce' event.

Noah for coming 2nd in his group in the 'Speed Bounce' event.

Bromley KS1 Key Steps Gymnastics Competition

We are all very proud of the squad who represented Bromley Road on Tuesday 15th November 2016 in the KS1 Gymnastics Competition.  The girls (Ruby, Lily, Isla, Tara, Olivia D and Sienna) had to learn 9 body management moves, perform a routine and perform a vault.  Congratulations to Ruby who was one of four children overall to win a medal for EXCELLENCE and EFFORT!

Year 5/6 Football Competition

On Wednesday 2nd November, Bromley Road entered their first ever team into the Yr 4/5 Football Competition.  The squad (Alex, Evan, Donnell, Christopher, Daniel, Armin, Luke, Kia, Lorenzo and Kristian) worked extremely hard, however, competition was very tough so unfortunately the boys did not make it through to the finals.  A special mention goes to Luke and Daniel who both played very well and showed great team spirit!

Bromley Road Vs Clare House Football Match

A HUGE congratulations to our KS2 Boys Football Team (plus Luke from the Reserves) on a fantastic match against Clare House on Monday 17th October.  The boys ended the first half down 3-1, but changed the formation and managed to bring it back to secure a 5-4 win.  Super adaptability, resilience and team work were displayed by all.  WELL DONE!

KS1 Football Competition

Well done to the children selected to take part in the Bromley KS1 football competition on Tuesday 27th September 2016.  The squad (Frankie A, Juan, Wiktor, Kayden, Mason, Olivia B, Tara and Sadie) competed a number of games, with the best score being a 2-0 win against Midfield Primary.  Congratulations to Kayden on being top goal-scorer and well done to Wiktor, who is a natural in goal!  The team placed 5th overall.

Year 3 & 4 Quad Kids Athletics Competition

Well done to Evan, Kristian, Abi, Chelsea, Raul, Lucas, Caitlin and Ore for representing the school in the Year 3 and 4 Quad Kids Athletics Competition.  The squad competed in 4 events: standing long jump, howler throw, 50, sprint and 400m run.  The competition was tough and BRPS ranked 13th overall.  A big congratulations to Chelsea who achieved 2nd place in her group in the girl's standing long jump event.

Bromley Road Vs Worsley Bridge Football Match

On Wednesday 22nd June 2016, the Year 3 and 4 Football Team played their second match against Worsley Bridge. The team, captained by Evan, put in a fantastic performance and won 6-3.  A special well done to Christopher for putting in a solid effort in defence and a big well done to Evan for scoring 4 goals!

Bromley Road Vs Wickham Common Football Match

On Thursday 19th May 2016, our new Year 3 and 4 Football Team (Alex, Evan, Donnell, Christopher, Eryk, Alejandro, Raul and Frankie) played their first ever friendly match against Wickham Common Primary School, who won 7-1.  We are all very proud of the team for their excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.  Well done to Frankie for leading the team as captain and writing the match report. 

Bromley KS1 Key Steps Gymnastics Festival

On Thursday 26th November 2015, 6 children participated in the KS1 Key Steps Gymnastics Festival at St Peter's and St Paul's Primary School.  The squad (Ruby K, Lily, Evie D, Stejsi, Olivia K and Ceylin) had great fun taking part and enjoyed learning and performing some new skills.  The highlight of the morning was watching a demonstration by GB Tumbler, Freddie Lomax!

Bromley KS1 Quad Kids Athletics Festival

On Tuesday 20th October 2015, 10 children in Year 1 and 2 attended the KS1 Quad Kids Festival at The Priory School in Orpington.  We were extremely proud of our squad (Mia M, Mason, Dvyne, Olivia D, Kayden S, Riley M, Taysia, Junior, Polly and Kaleb) who participated in 4 events: A standing long jump, shuttle relay, 30m sprint and the howler throw. 

 

The children demonstrated excellent Athletic skills as well as superb sportsmanship.  A special congratulations to Kayden in Year 1 who came 1st out of 120 children in the 30m sprint with an impressive time of 4.39 seconds!!

Whole School Hoola Hoop Competition

On Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th October 2015, each class took part in a Hoola Hoop Workshop with Zebadee Performing Arts as part of our Healthy Lifestyles Week.  Each class held their own Hoola Hoop contest at the end of their workshop.  Congratulations to the class champions: Douglas, Elaine, Tara, Mason, Daria, Carter, Sean, Taysia, Eddie, Gabriela, Maggie, Eryk, Dami and Daniel.
